Itenarary
Day 1: Delhi
Arrive Delhi and stay one night. Afternoon orientation
tour of old city, passing the famous Red fort, the Jama
Masjid Mosque & Raj Ghat. Continues to New Delhi,
the capital city with its many British Imperial buildings
Day 2: Mandawa
Morning drive west to the Shekhawati region in the afternoon.
Stay two nights at the Castle Mandawa.Throughout this
area mansions & palace visit to the busting of Fatehpur
where almost every street is flanked with the painted
walls of Haveli.
Day 3: Fatehpur
Morning exploring the magnificent Haveli (mansions), built
by rich merchants of the area called Haveli after the
Persian word for enclosed space. Afternoon visit to the
busting town of Fatehpur where almost every street is
flaked with the painted walls of Haveli.
Day 4: Bikaner
Drive further west to Bikaner, in the Thar Desert for
one night at the Bhanwar Niwas Palace / Gajner Palace
(a beautiful lake side palace just outside the city).
Afternoon exploring the city, seeing the ancient Jain
temples in the old city, Junagarh Fort and the Lallgarh
Palace.
Day 5: Jaisalmer
Continue driving west to the desert city of Jaisalmer,
a perfect example of a walled city and stay two night
at the Gorbandh Palace Hotel.
Day 6: Jaisalmer
Morning walk up to the fort, through the narrows streets
dotted with temples & havelis, late afternoon drive
to a viewpoint to watch the sun over the city which turns
a deep golden colour as the sun sinks.
Day 7: Khimsar
Drive east to Khimsar, a tiny village on the fringe of
the desert. Stay two nights at the fort Khimsar, a unique
15th century converted castle.
Day 8 : Nagaur
Visit the nearby medieval town of Nagaur, which possesses
a fine 11th century masque and the fort which also boasts
numerous relics from the days of great Emperor Akbar.
Day 9: Jodhpur
Morning drive to Jodhpur for one night at Ajit Bhawan
the first Heritage hotel of Rajasthan. Afternoon visits
to the magnificent Ummaid Bhawan Palace, a vast building
where the Maharaja still maintains his residence &
Mehrangarh Fort which reflects the city glorious and troubled
past.
Day 10: Roopnagar
Drive via Ajmer to the excellently converted Roopnagar Fort
for one night. Situated in the heart of Rajasthan, it is
a very impressive building, built in 1963 as the capital
for the Maharaja of Kishangarh
Day 11:Samode
Morning drive to the wonderful village of Samode, out side
Jaipur .stay one night at the exquisitely converted Samode
palace/Samode Bagh [luxurious tents in beautiful gardens].afternoon
at leisure.
Day 12: Jaipur
after breakfast drive to Jaipur visiting the glorious fort
amber former capital of Jaipur state, two nights at Samode
Haveli the town house of Rawals of Samode situated in the
old city of Jaipur. Evening visit to the sunset point at
the fort Nahargarh where you can have a clear view of Jaipur
city
Day 13: Jaipur
Full day visit of Hawa Mahal (palace of winds), really just
an elaborate façade & the city palace where the
Maharaja still maintains his residence. Afternoon at leisure
Day 14: Agra
Morning drive to Agra via the deserted red sandstone city
of Fatehpur Sikari, built by Akbar as his capital but abandoned
soon after. Evening visit to the Taj Mahal sunset. Overnight
at Taj View Hotel.
